Aariana Rose Philip refuses to be defined.
Hailing from The Bronx by way of the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda, Aar Rose was discovered through her social media where she took notice of the lack of representation of trans women of color within the fashion industry, let alone anyone with a disability. Represented by Community New York, she has emerged as a trail-blazer, determined to represent her communities as a model.
With a steadfast, sincere approach to her career, Aariana Rose is driven by the lack of disability representation in the media, specifically in the fashion and beauty realms. Right off the bat, Aariana Rose has been a catalyst of change by openly speaking about her experience with bigotry from being a black model. She's actively worked towards an inclusive industry via her editorial features in i-D, Dazed, ELLE, Teen Vogue, and Allure magazines, as well as Refinery29 and NowThis. Aariana Rose was also the subject of a profile in The New York Times, hailing Aariana’s career as a sign of a more diverse industry. Vogue.com recently featured and photographed Aariana Rose with her friend, Chella Man, discussing the lack of disabled representation.
Aariana Rose has graced nine fashion magazine covers including PAPER magazine, which featured her being interviewed by the iconic Naomi Campbell, legendary stylist Katie Grand’s publication Perfect, V Magazine, Numero, Indie Magazine, and the September issue of S Moda for El País. She has famously posed for a Sephora campaign, as well as Dove’s United We Stand campaign in support of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and to celebrate the progress made by the LGBTQIA+ community. Aariana Rose was also a star in Miley Cyrus' hit music video, Mother's Daughter, which received over 100 million views to date.
Jeremy Scott at Moschino then tapped her as the sole face of Moschino's FW 2020 campaign, shot by Luigi Murenu + Iango Henzi. Aariana has appeared in the pages of Vogue Italia by Tyler Mitchell and W magazine by Tim Walker. In a comedic turn, she made her television debut on TBS’ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Meanwhile, she debuted on Willie Norris Workshop's catwalk and later modeled exclusively for Collina Strada's digital runway show and in the brand's lookbook, but furthermore made her NYFW runway debut in Moschino’s SS22 runway show in New York City, making history as the first model in a wheelchair to walk for a major high fashion label. Marc Jacobs has also made Aariana Rose one of the designer's closest, most frequent collaborators, working with her on various media projects.
With a successful modeling career in bloom, Aariana Rose has laid a fantastic foundation for what she hopes many others will soon follow alongside her.
June 2023 — She was the cover star of the May issue of Vogue UK.
